Valenfeld
aka The Vale, Vandahl's Folly, Vallenfield, the breadbasket
A silt-grey frontier town in a flat basin, clinging to silver rights and the barrow's long shadow — and, quietly, the breadbasket that feeds the whole lower world.
Valenfeld is a minor settlement on the edge of a dead empire, three powers grinding over its silver, its souls, and the relic the eastern barrow keeps. House Vandahl flies its banners here, barely. Outlanders are tolerated the way a wound tolerates a splinter. What actually keeps the town alive — and the rest of the Vale with it — is not the silver but the flat: the basin's farm belt of tilled fields, hen-yards and cattle corrals is the densest in the lower world, and when Valenfeld's grain comes in light, everyone downriver goes hungry (concept.the-vale-harvest).
