THE LEDGER · THE NORTHERN REACH
The Old Galleries
aka the worked-out deep, old Deepvein
The worked-out original galleries in the Northern Reach that House Deepvein cut before it moved its seat under the Farshield. A Stoneborn delve now — signed courses running out into exhausted stone and old dark.
Before the Deepvein Galleries were on the Farshield they were here, under the Northern Reach, and this is what the clan left when the veins ran thin and the Moot let it move the seat across the water: kilometres of dated, signed courses driving down into stone that finally gave nothing back. House Deepvein sealed the good galleries and kept the ledger; the rest is a delve now, the deepest legal working of its day gone quiet, its bronze foundry cold and its boundary markers still standing where the clan set them. Reavers, damp, and worse have come into the empty deep since. A Stoneborn calls it worked-out, which is not the same as safe.
