GAZETTEER · THE GREATWOOD
The Rootbound Hollow
aka the root-warren, the giving dark
A root-warren cave under the Hollowing Oak where the Rootbound give their dead to the living wood, with sap-caches in the deep.
Beneath the Hollowing Oak the great taproots split the bedrock into a warren of damp, breathing galleries. The Rootbound carry their dead down to be wound into the wood and left to feed it — bone-charms hang where the wardens went still, and the deepest chambers weep an amber sap the wake-keepers hoard. The air is thick and green; outlanders who cut at the roots do not leave.
