THE LEDGER

The Ashen Wastes

The dry ash-desert east of the Vale through the Ashen Gap, home to the Bonesung Camp's nomads and the sealed ruins the Ashen Temple would rather no one dug up.

Ash-grey desert where the Asheni nomads of the Bonesung Camp move with the season rather than hold ground, and where House Ashwake's settled cousins across the sea are remembered as the ones who left. The Ashen Temple keeps a soft watch for buried relics here, wanting them studied and locked away before the wastes swallow them again — and the Bonesung Camp has its own dark mirror out on the open ash: the Ash Covenant, zealot kin who hold that the broken god's fire must be fed, not sealed, and raid the wastes for fuel, ore, and captives to throw on their pyres. The Camp's nomads and the Covenant's zealots are the same people split by one answer to the Sundering, which is exactly why the Bonesung Camp watches its own horizon as hard as it watches the ruins.

DANGER REASON

Nomad country: no fixed garrison, so most danger is the emptiness itself and what the ash hides — but the Ash Covenant's raiding pyre-cultists are a real, standing hostile power the Camp itself contests.
