The Loggers' Cut
An abandoned Gaunt Ledger logging adit driven into a Greatwood hill chasing iron and grave-silver, struck water and the wrong note, and left in a hurry — good steel still on the floor.
Whoever surveyed it said iron and called it; whoever drove the first gallery found the wrong thing and didn't write what it was. There's a half-loaded timber sledge inside the main gallery, a logging-foreman's ledger-page tucked in a crack, and enough good steel left behind to tell you the men who dropped it weren't stopping to pack. The Finders have priced the job; the Ledger wants to know if it's worth a second crew. Something in the dark below the water-line is the answer to both questions.
