A weathered notice nailed to a bone-white post south of the Vale, left by the Silt Hands to keep their own cargo runners from wandering off the safe track toward Sunbleached Hold.

Keep the wheel-ruts. The flats lie about water past the third bone marker, and the hold at the end of them was never worth what it cost the last three crews who went looking. If you smell nothing and see shimmer where there should be a waterhole, turn around. We run this road because we know it. You don't, yet.
