GAZETTEER · THE NORTHERN REACH
The Stillwater
The Stillwater Order's monastery beside a cold, mirror-flat tarn near the Karth — so quiet the grief for a dead god seems, for once, almost to lift.
A low cluster of grey cells and a single bell-less tower around a tarn that never ripples, high in the pine country above the Karth crossing. Pilgrims climb the long path to learn the empty hand and find a place where the world's four-hundred-year mourning finally goes quiet — the Order's whole proof that grief for the Wright can be laid down rather than carried. The Drowned, it's said, walk into the tarn looking for the weight they were taught to leave behind.
