GAZETTEER · THE SOUTHERN FLATS
The Saltglass Vault
A Vallen Imperium bronze-vaulted hall sunk under the deepest rib, its Sundering fault flooded with brine that dried to salt-glass, fusing the apse into a cracked mineral cathedral.
The empire that built the South Road built this too, and sank it when the Sundering cracked the basin floor. The workings still pulse in half the hall; in the other half, the fault opened and brine rose, then dried, fusing pillars and arch-frames in crystallised salt — a glittering ruin of the empire's reach. The Unsealing want what still pulses warm in the salt-glass apse; the Listening College want it sealed again. The flats kept this one hidden longer than any other, which means whatever the empire sealed here, it meant to stay sealed.
