THE LEDGER · THE MIRRENMERE
The Tide-Stairs
aka the Old Landing, the Hessk's Old Landing
The pink-stone stair the Hessk cut into the Mirrenmere cape when Sresh-Dar still sheltered in the shallows below it — left standing, half-drowned at the flood, now squatted by Kavi Gold-Eye's Reshi Marauders as their Dust Camp.
Before Sresh-Dar shifted south onto the Longwater floor, this is where a traveler actually went down to it: a long pink-stone stair cut into the cape face, worn soft by centuries of Hessk feet and the tide that covers its lower courses twice a day. The Keepers took their sounding-stones and their pressure-bells with them when the city moved; the stair itself was never anyone's to carry. It sits empty at the top of the tide now, which is exactly why the Marauders like it — dry ground, a clear sightline down the coast road, and a name on no lowland map. Kavi Gold-Eye runs her road-reavers out of the old landing's upper terrace, the Dust Camp, and the lower steps still flood the way they always did, indifferent to whoever is squatting above them.

- ←Sresh-Dar — Sresh-Dar's move to the Longwater strait floor leaves its old Mirrenmere-cape landing behind as the Tide-Stairs — the fourth scar the four-continent retcon table names but does not build until now.
