The Korl Trail-Stones

Man-tall standing stones the Korl raised along the only sane line across the upper snowfield, older than the Imperium, carved in a script the Stoneborn read and settled men cannot.

Older than the cairns and older than the road, these stones are the Korl's map — the one true line across the snowfield when the white-out closes. Lose the line between them and the mountain keeps you. Three-Cairns knows the spacing by memory; travellers must learn it fast or pay his fee.
