GAZETTEER · THE VALE
The Marrowring
Highbridge's fighting ring, run by the Marrow Lances — a full circle of buttressed grey stone around open sand, where coin buys a bout, the crowd pays fame back in titles, and nobody has to die.
The Lances raised it as a mustering ring and found the tolls of spectacle paid better than the tolls of war: a great stone drum, banner poles on the crown, a twin-towered gate that never shuts. Practice on the sand is free and always open; once a day the arenamaster calls an even-money wager bout matched to a fighter's fame, and every seventh day the tournament fills the tiers. The roar carries down the cart-road as far as Valenfeld's east gate. Fighters are knocked out, never killed — the ring's one mercy, and the reason every playstyle in the Vale steps through its gate. Titles run from Pit-Fighter to Champion of the Marrowring; the crowd keeps the ledger better than any clerk.
