The Emberwaste buries its dead in ash the nomads won't disturb; the Cinderroot Hollows are where the Cinder Quorum digs anyway, hauling out whatever the drifts unseal to fence for coin, all loot and nerve and a bad name. The heat only gets worse going down, and the Hollows go down a long way.
