THE CHRONICLE · THE VALE
The First Sealing
The Sealed Choir's founding act — the first great Unclosed thing bound 'under stone and name' — proving their closing craft and setting them forever against the Listeners who would wield what the Choir would bury.
The Choir could not yet touch the Wright's Shard, so they took a lesser thing: an Unclosed haunt pooled thick over the still water, its ending finally finished — latched, named, and sealed beneath a marked stone until it could not stir. It held. From that hour the faith had its proof and its hunger — every great haunting a wound to be closed, the Wright's Shard most of all — and the Vale had two powers that would never share a roof.
