ITEMS · THE MIRRENMERE
The Witness Leaf of the Lower Arc
A black record leaf whose unreadable figures alter each night to match cracks opened that day.
Rows of silver strokes cover both faces, crowded and exact. No mark moves while watched, yet each morning new branches appear beside places where roads, walls, or banks failed under open sky. The oldest strokes are burned white at the center, around a blank space shaped like something carefully omitted.
