The Mason's Star
Seven brass arms turn around a milky stone and agree on every angle except the one made by a living tree.
The arms fold flat enough to slip into a mason's apron. Set against worked stone, they spread and hold the exact meeting of wall, arch, and floor; set against bark, they keep searching. Rain has greened the brass, but the small central stone remains warm after sunset.
