Layered oilskin, waxed wool and a face-wrap sold as one bundled kit — the difference between turning back at the snowline and going up past it.

Nothing about it is exotic: waxed felt liners, an oiled outer shell, mitts on a cord so you don't lose them taking a reading, a wrap for the face against wind-burn. Highbridge salvors sell it because they buy it back — expedition kits come home ripped, resewn, and sold again, which is why a used cold-kit is honest goods and a suspiciously cheap one is missing a piece you'll find out about at altitude. The Far College reading-hall stocks the same rig under a fancier name and twice the price.
