ITEMS · THE SERED SPUR
The Northward Reading Leaf
A pale bronze leaf whose punched stars complete a reckoning begun on a southern mate.
The holes look scattered until the leaf is held north at dawn. Then five catch the light, and thin shadows point beyond the metal's edge toward missing figures. Its Southward Reading Leaf was carried down into the Vale, leaving each half legible and neither complete.
