The Open Frame

A hinged drawing-frame whose empty bed still traces the lines of a plate taken from it.

Four pale spars open into a square and lock without pin or catch. Nothing lies in the bed, but dust placed there gathers into faint channels where the Absent Plate once rested. Close the frame and those lines vanish, leaving only one maker's thumbprint in the bronze.
