The Choke-Tide Pauldron

A single fluted shoulder-plate salvaged from a drowned Imperium construct's post at the Salt-Choked Vault's flood-gate — the construct itself still stands its station under the salt water; this piece came loose, and nobody has gone back for the rest.

Fluted columns stand in the Salt-Choked Vault's salt water up to the capitals, and drowned Imperium constructs keep their stations at the flood-gate the way they were set to four centuries ago, unrelieved and unrusted. The Listening College knows the vault exists and has never reached the one resonator still pulsing slow and cold in the apse — the vault-weepers and the flood-gate constructs see to that. This pauldron parted from its construct's shoulder joint at some point in the intervening centuries and drifted to the shallows, where a diver bold enough to work the flood-gate's edge (and lucky enough to do it while the construct's slow patrol faced the other way) can reach it without ever waking the rest of the vault.
