The Stone-Sleeve Fork
A two-pronged silver fork in a fitted stone sheath that answers a wall with the wall's own hidden flaw.
Struck bare, the fork gives no sound worth hearing. Slide it into its veined sleeve and set the stone against masonry; the tines quiver differently over a hollow, a crack, or sound bedding. The sleeve has split down one side, so its readings now arrive as a faint tick in the fingers.
