The Absent Plate
A smoke-dark copy-plate whose edge fits an empty frame found miles away.
Hundreds of narrow cuts make a drawing of braces, rising lines, and three nested foundations. Wax pressed through it takes the marks cleanly, but no one below can tell what the finished work should be. One edge bears the same shallow thumbprint as the Open Frame.
