Panhand's Last Stride
A pair of hobnailed wading boots, laced tight and left standing upright at the flood-line of the Coldhum Deep — Brokka's last pan-crew went in with lamps and picks, and only the lamp came back out.
The Coldhum Deep is half natural ice-throat, half drowned Imperium colonnade, flooded to the chest where the Stoneborn's Coldhand Pans broke through into it looking for silver and found the hum-below instead. The boots stand exactly where whoever wore them last stepped out of them, laces still done, as if they'd simply walked on without needing feet anymore. They're unremarkable Stoneborn quarry-work otherwise — thick-soled, iron-shod for scree — except that a wearer who pulls them on finds the cold water doesn't slow their stride the way it should, and the ice-throat's footing stops being a hazard.
