The Keeper's Trivet
Three black legs keep this palm-sized trivet level on any hearth, even when the stones beneath it move.
Each leg shortens or lengthens with a soft click until the upper ring sits true. It was made for an ordinary pot, and a soot circle still marks where countless suppers stood. One foot is missing, but the other two keep searching for it whenever the trivet is set down.
