The Verdigris Vigil

aka the Warden's Green, the Living Seal

A green-corroded Imperial cuirass the burning brine cannot eat — worn by the warden who sealed the Weeping Vault from the inside and never came up. While a living body wears it, the weeper stays bound.

When the old empire and the priesthood walled the Vault-Weeper in — the only honest work the two ever did together — one warden stayed inside to hold the binding shut with nothing but her own vigil, sealed in with the thing she bound. The brine that eats the stone ran off her cuirass like rain off slate and left it the deep green of old bronze: true verdigris, the same green skin any temple-bronze grows in a wet, shut place, except that hers never stopped growing and never let the metal rot through. She is a shape on the dais now; the cuirass is not. While a living body wears it, the weeper's grief stays turned outward — magicka and the cold reach of the Unclosed break against the wearer the way the brine broke against the warden. Take it up and you are the next vigil: armoured past any smith's work, warded against spell and shade, and bound, a little, to the thing that weeps under your feet. The Sealed Choir wants it back on the dais. Those who put it on rarely agree.

enchantmentHeavy cuirass, incorruptible — corrosion and brine slide off it. Worn, it wards the bearer against magicka and spectral/shock damage (fortify resist) the way it once warded the warden, and dampens the Weeping Vault's failing seal. The binding cuts both ways: the wearer is faintly tethered to what the cuirass holds down.
