The Rainward Copy Leaf

A grey leaf of metal that shows its crowded drawing only while water runs over it.

Dry, it bears a few harmless scratches. Under rain or poured water, lines darken into gutters, spillways, and sloped courts drawn one above another. A tear crosses the lower quarter, exactly where every visible run should meet.
