Glimmer
aka glint orb, fae-light
A cold mote of fae-light, tucked into odd corners of the Vale by no hand anyone's ever caught at it. The lights glow a little warmer near their own kind; collectors trade them to Wren in Valenfeld for wonders no forge can make.
Most folk take a Glimmer for a trinket — a pebble of pale light that warms faintly when another lies near. The Finders know better: each one is placed, not grown, though nobody agrees by whom. Some call it the Good Neighbor's old leftover luck, thinned out since the Lean Years began and gone to ground rather than vanish outright; others call it plain fae work and leave it at that. Two hundred-odd are thought to hide across the Vale, disguised as scenery, patient as stones. They cannot be forged, farmed, or sold to any honest merchant; only Wren pays for them, and never in coin.

- ←The Finder's Glass — The smoked lens exists to catch the same fae-light sheen a Glimmer gives off — ground to read that glint through stone the way it reads buried bronze. Whatever a Glimmer truly is, the glass finds it.
