The Wayfarer's Ledger · DUNGEON
Chapter 212
The Unruled Vein
also called the un-ruled deep, the question in the stone
A resonite vein under the Farshield's shield-wall that the Stonewright Moot has never formally ruled on: old enough that quarrying it might not count as breaking the seal the Deepclan Reavers were exiled over, and exactly the ambiguity a hungry clan or an exiled one would force before the Moot decides.
House Deepvein's galleries run right up to the Unruled Vein and stop, by the wrightmother's own order, because a course cut into ground the Moot hasn't ruled on is a claim nobody can defend if the ruling goes the other way. The vein sits there anyway, rich and unworked, a standing argument in stone: cut it now and prove the house's strength, or leave it and prove the house's patience. It was the Reavers who forced the question: a raiding party pushed in from the drowned side, past markers that were never meant to hold against digging, the same trail of broken seals that started at the Old Galleries on the mainland. Whatever they find down here first will likely decide which way the Moot rules.
