Chapter 121
Ashwake Hearthhold
also called the Banked Hall

House Ashwake's seat in the Ashen Wastes — a low, thick-walled hearthhold built around a bank of fires that have not gone cold in three generations.
No towers, no banners snapping in the ash-wind — just a long, low hall with a smoke-vent roof and a central hearth-bank the house has never once let die. Traders come from every settled hearth in the Wastes to buy banked embers by the sackful; the Covenant's raiders have learned to leave it alone, since burning down the one hall that reliably sells you fire is a poor kind of raid.
