The Listening College's reading-hall on Highbridge's guild square — the arcane door into the relic war, kept where every road's noise passes.

A narrow hall of pale cut stone off the Highbridge square, shelves heavy with bound salvage-ledgers and its centre given over to an assay-table that glows cold and blue at all hours, weighing and dating whatever comes off the diggers' backs. The College keeps it here, at the crossing, because Old Work moves along these roads if it moves at all — and the College means to have first look when it does. Archivist Sevenn keeps the stacks and decides, quietly, what is too dangerous to write down.
