The Moot's Unanswered Question
aka the ruling that never came
A standing rumor among Farshield quarry crews that the Stonewright Moot has quietly stopped debating whether to cut the Unruled Vein, because the wrightmother's own surveys found the vein runs deeper than any gallery the Moot has authorized, into ground nobody has agreed even belongs to the mountain anymore.
Every quarry crew on the shield-wall has heard some version of it. The Moot was supposed to rule on the Unruled Vein years ago, and the ruling never came, and the reason isn't politics the way the wrightmother lets people believe. A survey crew went in to measure the vein for the debate and came back with a map that didn't close, resonite going down past where the Farshield's own bedrock should have ended. Nobody has cut a course that deep, and nobody in Deepvein Galleries will say out loud what a course that deep might reach.
