The Fumarole Fields

A quarter-mile shelf of cracked basalt north-east of the Emberthrone, riddled with hundreds of hot gas vents — the region's maze, navigable only by the Ashwalkers' stake-markers.

The ground sounds hollow underfoot and occasionally gives. The vents hiss in different pitches; learn the difference between a steam vent and a gas vent or learn it the hard way. Cinder-crawlers live in the heat here; the Scorch Seekers' camp is in here somewhere, and the route to the Cindervault runs through the worst of it.
