The Hollow Mesa

A sealed Imperium bronze-vault inside a mesa the Tabled Stones grew around, cracked by the Sundering, kept shut by the Bonesung simply walking past it for a thousand years.

The processional hall inside the mesa still pulses — the old workings glow faint in the dark, the Sundering fault has spilled half the columns, and whatever the Asheni placed in the apse at the vault's founding has not been touched since the Wandering. Both the Resonants and the Unsealing believe it holds a pre-Sundering working precise enough to explain how all the other Old Work still functions. The Bonesung do not disagree; they just say the door should stay shut.
