Marrowfold Cairn

A pre-Vandahl chambered cairn behind the second ridge — older than the house, older than the cut stone of the catacombs that were sunk into it without ever reaching its bottom.

House Vandahl's masons cut the Sered Catacombs downward through stone they thought empty and found this cairn beneath them — sealed chambers of an elder dead who answer to no Warden and no lineage-rank. The Lower Wardens will not go in; the Broken Lances think there is grave-gold. Both are wrong about what is down there. The oldest verdigris sickness on the Spur is traced to here, not to any Vandahl niche.
