The Crookbridge

The worn stock-bridge over the Sered Cleave near the Keep — the only easy crossing of the gorge, a chokepoint on the road, and where the Broken Lances would cut the supply line if they turned.

The bridge is old and slightly canted where the north pier settled into the gorge clay, giving it the crook it was named for. Every cart heading up to the Keep and the castle passes here; a hermit-priest keeps a toll-shrine at its foot most seasons, blessing travellers for what they can spare. Stand in the middle of the span and the Cleave roars below you and the castle crag is visible a mile north. Block the bridge and you starve the garrison in three weeks.
