Provisions the Marrow Lances out of the Guildrows company-house — gruff, exact about inventory, and running an open betting pool on which new recruit quits first.

Dask counts boots, blades and ration-sacks the way Yeva counts tolls, and has zero patience for a recruit who loses kit — except in the very specific sense that losing kit is what keeps his betting pool interesting. Half the company has a coin in on which green recruit washes out first, Dask included, and he's careful never to let his own bet affect who gets the worse assignments, mostly. He'd deny running the pool if a superior asked. He is a superior, and nobody's asked.
