PERSONAE · THE MIRRENMERE
Veil-of-Reeds Olu
aka Olu, the Banyan Hermit
An Asheni exile who left the ash for the water and roosts in the Weeping Banyan's crown, reading the mere's moods — warns travellers off the Mere Gnasher channels, for a price.
Olu came south from the Asheni wastes after the ash-reading told her to walk until the dust turned to water and then keep walking. She walked into the Mirrenmere, climbed the Weeping Banyan, and decided the view was good enough. She no longer practices the old rites, but the habit of reading wind and water is hard to lose, and the mere is full of signs if you know what signs look like. She will tell you which channels are hunting-grounds this week, for a coin or a story she hasn't heard.
