PERSONAE · THE VALE

Oswin

A smallholder west of the Highbridge span working his grandfather's shrinking field — the man whose plough turned up an Imperium ring-seal and whose honesty asked the town what it was worth.

Oswin's field grows half what it grew in his boyhood, his spring runs lower each year, and his answer to both is the same as his father's: plough anyway. The ring-seal under his blade was the first luck in a decade, if luck is what it proves to be.

greetingMind the furrows, friend, they're honest work even if nothing comes up in them worth the seed anymore. Oswin. This is my father's field and his father's before, and it grows half what it grew when I was a boy. You from the town? I turned something up under the plough you people might make sense of.
topics{"the find":"Down where the old road used to run before the river moved — the plough rang on it. A ring-seal, heavy, with a maker's mark like a chord of little lines. Old Imperium work, has to be. My father would've buried it again and spat. I've got three mouths and a dry spring, so I'm asking instead: what's it worth?"}
