PERSONAE · THE VALE
Brother Wick
A Wandering Cup of the Stillwater Order — barefoot, broke, unfailingly cheerful, and the monk most likely to teach a stranger the empty hand over a shared crust.
Wick walks the Vale with a begging bowl and a bottomless good humor that disarms everyone from gate-guards to relic-brokers. He owns nothing and fears nothing, which makes him the best recruiter the Order has — a newcomer meets Wick on the road, learns one breath of the Stillwater Stance, and finds themselves climbing to the tarn weeks later. He carries messages between Master Oén and the wider Vale, and he is quietly terrified about what's happening at the master's deathbed. Because he walks everywhere and remembers everyone, he is the Vale's one recurring face — you meet him again at crossroads up and down the region, and he greets you by what you've done since last, warm every time. Under the jokes he is grieving his master, and showing up glad anyway is the truest thing he knows how to teach.
