PERSONAE · THE NORTHERN RAMPART
The Cantor Who Wouldn't Seal
aka the Broken Cantor, Leth the Incomplete
A former Sealed-Choir cantor who fled his order rather than seal the old engine in the Deep, now sheltered by the Meltwardens, half-frozen and half-mad, who can still talk the thing down to quiet for a few breaths.
He chose the Rampart over the Choir's demand that he seal the cold engine buried at the Karth's source — carved his silencing-glyphs halfway through at the Hermit's Roost and then stopped his hand and walked. He knows the sealing-art better than any surviving cantor because he refused to finish it. The Choir wants him back or silenced; Vael shelters him as proof that even a sealer can learn to let go.
