Factor Voss of the Ledger
The Gaunt Ledger's surveyor and timber-factor in the Greatwood, who wants to know why a full logging gang abandoned good steel in the Loggers' Cut — and whether it's worth sending another.
Voss does not believe in haunted caves or the wood's slow appetite. He believes in ledger-lines that don't close and timber that doesn't come out, and the Loggers' Cut has both. He hired a good gang, fitted them well, and they came back to the camp at the Charm-Cords' edge shaking and short two men, and wouldn't say more than 'wrong note.' He is, to his own irritation, frightened of the Greenwake and practical about it. He will pay a non-Ledger worker to go back in and write down what they find.
