Orin moves the parcels that fall off hulls, and the river under the great span is his road as much as the deck above. He runs the Quiet Door's cargo for the Finders and quietly subcontracts to the Silt Hands when the Ledger isn't watching the ledger, which is the kind of thinning that worries Draneth, who did exactly this once. Orin knows the underbridge market the way a smuggler knows a tide-table: who keeps a stall, who keeps a secret, and that the dry imperial with the stool by the chain — the one they call Vandahl — buys word of everything that crosses, and pays better than the Ledger for it.
