Hessa One-Ear

A Finder who has been into the Leaning Columns more than anyone living and lost half a crew to an Old Work engine that discharged back — she knows where the unmarked falls are, and she sends newcomers to the Mosswound to learn the risk before the deep fields.

Hessa lost the ear to an Old Work engine that discharged when her crew pried it free. She is missing three fingers on the same side. She does not talk about it much, but she will tell you where not to step, and that is worth more than any guide who has never been wrong. She works for the Finders — buys workings loose, sells them through the Ledger's network — and she keeps the job because she is the only one who comes back.
