Lean, weathered, unhurried — she speaks in the clipped way of people who have been watching the same ridge for years and do not need to explain themselves. She holds the water-rights problem with the Vandahl as a blade she has not yet decided to use, and she knows the ground between here and the Last Waystone better than the prospectors know their own maps.
