Veya the Sweep

A Highbridge street-stray turned Finders lookout — keeps the unmarked door by knowing every face that crosses the guild square before it knows her.

Veya grew up cutting purses on the span and got good enough that Draneth gave her the door instead of the river. Now she loiters by the Quiet Door looking like she belongs to nothing, which is the job: she sweeps the square with her eyes, marks the gate sentries' rounds, and knows a House man or a Lance from a real customer at forty paces. She is the Finders' first test of a newcomer — if you found the door, she found you first. She is young enough to still think the Quiet is glamorous and sharp enough that she will not be young about it for long.
