The Drowned Fangs
Hessk raiders of the sunken valley who drag the drowned-water's cold onto the shore — and the unwary down into it.
The Fangs are Hessk who turned the gift of the gills into a threat: they strike from the brackish shallows where no lander can follow, take what the tide-trade carries, and pull the drowning down into the cold for the rest to finish. They keep no quarrel with the deep — only with everything that walks dry. Sresh, called the Underpull, leads them with a barbed gaff and a simple law: the water always wins, given long enough, so it may as well win today.
