The Bellwakes
aka the Ringers
Defiers of the Hush who steal into the bell-haunted deep to wake what the Mourners spent lifetimes closing — convinced the Unclosed have something to say if only they're made to answer.
The Mourners of the Hush keep the eastern barrows quiet so the dead can finish fading; the Bellwakes think that is a slow murder of the only witnesses to the Sundering. They slip into the Hushing Deep, find the old bells the Mourners muffled, and ring them — and for a few terrible breaths the annex answers in voices. They have lost members to that answering. They keep going. The Wrights' Heirs fund them at arm's length, calling them research; the Mourners call them grave-robbers of rest and have started keeping watch on the deep's mouth.
