A Transfer Tally

aka the Silt Hands work-tally

A working Silt Hands tally pinned in the dry workings — crates in, crates out, the Cut turned from a dead prospect into a live cache.

CUT — running tally, keep it dry, keep it quiet. In: 6 salt-barrels (false bottoms, Driftmarket run), 2 crates temple-bronze (do not open, Keeper's word), 1 roll oiled hides. Out: 4 salt-barrels to the night boat, 1 crate bronze held back on Keeper's mark — held back AGAIN, third time, ask no questions. Hounds fed twice. Whoever let the wet-branch gate stand open at last dark, the Keeper knows it was you and you had best hope she forgets. The beasts are the alarm. An open gate is no alarm at all. Dry timber holds. Water's up two hands on the low drift since the melt. If it keeps rising we move the whole cache before midsummer, Keeper says. She won't say where.
