aka the filling order, the Imperium grain-writ

A bronze-pinned Imperium writ still bolted by the upper mounts: the order that filled the cistern-vault against a siege, and the count of what it was meant to feed.

By the Word of the Vallen Imperium and the seal of the Third Granary-Clerkship, this cistern is filled and sealed against the siege the Prefect's readers foretell for the coming year. Recorded within: eleven hundred measures of hard wheat, four hundred of barley, the auger-fittings turning against the damp, salt and pitch for the seams. Sufficient, by the clerk's arithmetic, to hold the corridor's people through a winter under the wall and a spring behind it. The augers are to be turned by the granary-hands on the quarter-day, that the grain does not sour in the stone. The seal is not to be broken but by the Prefect's own writ, or the siege's lifting, whichever the god sends first. Set down and pinned this day.
