A Traveler's Account of the Eastern Hills

aka Mournwright's Notes

Taras Mournwright's field notes on Vallen's Barrow's exterior — entrance configuration, threshold markings, and his theory that the barrow predates the Sundering.

The threshold is not carved, it is pressed — as if the stone once yielded and then remembered itself. The inscription does not match any dead-empire script I have catalogued. I have felt the pressure in the stone that Ossym calls a hum. I have also heard Ossym tell it things. The inscription answers neither of us.
