Ash Raider

A territorial ashen scavenger-bird the size of a shield, that mobs travelers on the open wastes.

Red-necked and ugly, it roosts on the ancestor-poles at the camp's edge and strips anything left unattended in under a minute. The tribes leave them alone; the birds leave the tribes' meat alone. Outlanders are not in this arrangement.
